Once Found

I knew that life wouldn't be the same
Now that I have lost someone I loved
I just sat there, playing with my coffee
Looking at the gray clouds up above

The clouds reflected my emotions
I tore my eyes from them for a while
Fighting the tears that were swelling
I wanted to but I just couldn't smile

I heard droplets of rain on the glass
So I closed my eyes to listen to the sound
Emotions flooded frenziedly
As tears fell and memories drifted 'round

My heart felt like it was being ripped apart
Synchronizing with each drop of rain
Didn't know how I'd go on and live merrily
Knowing I'll always live with the pain

Closed my eyes once again and listened
Intently to the rain as it fell to the ground
Smiling again as I thought to myself
Of the greatest love I had once found
